Organizers of a plan to construct a new Community Center in downtown Montpelier are taking full advantage of the depressed economy to get the best possible deal on a new Community Center.
Their thinking: Build it now for a couple hundred thousand dollars, or wait until the economy rebounds and build it for a whole lot more.
Not waiting seems like sound judgement to me.

Snowman Invasion Spreading
Apparently the Snowman army is growing stronger and spreading to neighboring communities.
Here's one at the home of Brent and Allison Kaehr in Decatur.
Don't let the smile fool you. It's obviously a Snowman Army Commander of some sort judging by its enormity...and pointy hands.

Garage Fire Claims Family Pet
Sunday's garage fire at 612 W. Spring Street claimed the lives of the family pet, but fortunately no people, and little or no damage to any nearby homes.

Snowmen Abound in Bluffton
Temperatures are supposed to rise this week, so now's your chance to check out all the snowmen decorating yards around Bluffton.

Giant Snowman Holds Kids for Ransom
Just kidding.
But there is a giant snowman standing guard in front of Little Lights Childcare Ministries on W. Washington Street.
Despite its size, just two guys and some sturdy back muscles were responsible for its creation.
Pretty cool, huh? Check it out before the sun chases it away....
Klondike Derby
The annual Klondike Derby at Wells County 4-H Park was a big hit with scouts from Huntington, Adams, Jay and Wells counties. I was so cold I couldn't feel my feet or my hands, but the kids were having a blast!

Boys and Girls Club Benefit
Saturday's Wells County Boys and Girls Club fundraising dinner was a huge success, with more than 100 folks in attendance at the event. Held at Timber Ridge Golf Course, there were items for auction, dinner, and entertainment by Spike and the Bulldogs.
The event was the first of what is hoped will be a year of similarly successful fundraisers to support the club and its programs which currently serve more than 100 Wells County kids a day.
