Karing for Kids donation sites

Businesses, churches and schools throughout Wells and Huntington counties have been collecting gifts and monetary donations for almost a month now. On Wednesday, Dec. 9, these contributions will be collected, with the cash being used to purchase additional gifts, and preparations for distribution will begin.
KFK’s goal for this year is to provide 625 children from 211 families in Huntington and Wells counties with eight gifts each, and is relying on generous donors to help provide suitable items.
Last year, the organization supplied gifts for 467 children from 167 families.
While the response from within the community has been great again this year, KFK organiser Rhonda O’Reilly estimates that nearly 1,000 gifts are still required to meet the group’s goal.
In addition to its children’s gifts, each family will also receive a Christmas Meal box and a bible, with Life Church in Bluffton co-ordinating the donations for the meal boxes.
Wrapping of the gifts will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18 at the Markle Church of Christ, and will continue on Saturday Dec. 19 until finished. Delivery will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20.
Monetary donations may be sent to Karing for Kids, 1481W-100N., Bluffton, IN 46714.
Further information is available from Rhonda O’Reilly at 260-273-0716.

Southern Wells students give back to sponsors

Students in Doug Hunt's manufacturing class spent their afternoon yesterday silk screen printing t-shirts to thank sponsors of their new woodworking program.

It's worth mentioning Hunt, designed the program himself, secured a Lilly Endowment grant to buy the CNC machine needed, built the silk screen printing machine they are using to print the shirts and secured funding for the t-shirt project through DonorsChoose.org

More Ossian Elementary School carols

Ossian students sing carols for Christmas

Forgoing their usual gift exchange, these Ossian first-graders instead collected gifts to be donated to the Wells Community Food Bank.

While I was visiting the students to snap a picture they gathered for a few Christmas carols and to turn on the lights in the First-Grade section of the school....
