SWES Christmas Sing

On December 18th, students at Southern Wells Elementary held their Christmas Sing through the halls of school then all grades ended up in the library. The morning is fun for all with a little bit of everything thrown in. Christmas carols, games, and special performances by In-Harmony, under the direction of Mrs. Hughes. Mr. Cline sang “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear” and Mrs. Hughes, Mr. Hurst and Mr. Haigh played “How Far Is It To Bethlehem” on their recorders. All the students really enjoy the program and are looking forward to Christmas break. Pictured are the 5th and 6th grade choir, In-Harmony.

Christmas lights galore

Here are the top three finishers in the annual Bluffton Christmas light display contest:

“Gingerbread Baby”

Recently at Southern Wells Elementary, students in Mrs. Stallsmith’s class began reading the book, “Gingerbread Baby” by Jan Brett and decided it would be fun to try making some gingerbread houses themselves.  With lots of goodies, icing and graham crackers, everyone’s house turned out wonderfully!  Pictured are Connor Wells, Millie Price, James Mounsey, Morgan Schwartz, Trent Geisel, Madison Watson, and Tanner Johnson. (Submitted)

"Winter Wanderland" at SWES

On December 10th, Southern Wells Elementary had their annual “Winter Wanderland” Christmas program for students in kindergarten through third grade. The kindergarten students sang two songs, “Jingle Bells” and “North Pole, North Pole.” Next up were the third grade children who performed with their recorders, “Rhapsody On An Ancient Carol” then sang, “Zoot Suit Santa.” The night ended with the second grade play entitled, “The Incredible Reindeer.” Some main characters were, Will Pennington, Hannah Roush, Abi Enochs, Jacob Duncan, Mark Geisel, Landon Lenwell and Jenna Eltzroth. The children always do such a wonderful job getting family and friends in the Christmas spirit with their program. Thank you Mrs. Hughes, Mr. Haigh, Mr. Hurst, and students for a great evening. OES Christmas Musical

Ossian Elementary School 1st and 2nd graders performed their annual Christmas Musical Concert this morning at 9:45 a.m. (They will do it again tonight at 7 p.m-in case you missed it!)

The students practice on their own time to make it a great time for everyone. Principal Shellie Miller said she "couldn't be more proud of all their hard work."

Judging by the applause the audience felt the same way....

Poetry Reading at Bluffton Elementary

I had an opportunity to read poetry to the Bluffton Elementary School 4th grade class today. Mayor Ted Ellis, Principal Doug Thieme and B-H Superintendent Wayne Barker were among those invited to read their poems to students.
And in return the students read us some of their favorite poems and a few they wrote themselves. Below you can watch as Ellis wildly succeeds in making poetry fun for the students!
