The OES Parent-Student Book Club met Tuesday night from 6:30-8:00. They studied the book Small Steps by Peg Kehret. The book is a memoir of Peg Kehret's life as a teenager when she had Polio. Students and parents learned about the author, participated in small group discussion, and then completed a research project on a specific disability. This project tied into March being Disability Awareness month. Students researched epilepsy, diabetes, down syndrome, leukemia, and cerebral palsy. Students used artifacts from their research to create a poster to hang at OES to help others learn about disabilities. It was a really great night!
