Schools within the Bluffton-Harrison district recently revealed the grades they received through state and federal rankings. However, education officials contest the validity of the system, and in the case of Bluffton Middle School, officials are calling the C grade unfair. Public Law 221 dictates the state's grade for a school, but "AYP" is a federal filter that could possibly lower that grade. If a school doesn't meet AYP for two years in a row, the school is capped at a C for at least two years.
