NORWELL MIDDLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCES BAND COMPETITION RESULTS

Thirty-five band students from Norwell Middle School participated in the ISSMA solo and ensemble contest held Saturday, January 30. Students who competed learned to play a solo or ensemble piece on their own time, not during class time.
The Norwell students traveled to Wayne High School for the competition and performed in front of a judge who rated them in nine different music categories. Twenty-seven students received a "Gold" rating, seven students received a "Silver" rating, and one student received a "Bronze" rating.

NORWELL STUDENTS SELECTED FOR THREE RIVERS HONOR BAND FESTIVAL
Three Norwell Middle School band students have been selected to perform in this year's IPFW Three Rivers Honor Band Festival. Representing Norwell will be eighth grade students Nicole Moser and Tim Glenn playing trumpet and seventh grade student Natasha Chemey playing flute.
Students who tried out for the band were required to learn two major scales as well as one fast and one slow piece of music of their choice and send individual audition tapes to IPFW. Hundreds of auditions were submitted from area schools.
IPFW Three Rivers Honor Band Festival weekend is February 4-6 in Auer Hall on the IPFW campus in Fort Wayne. The final performance will be February 6 at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.
