NMS Spelling Bee
The Norwell Middle School 2010 Spelling Bee took place on January 12 and 13, 2010. Twenty-nine spellers (grades six through eight) tackled words from several different languages of origin. The champion of the spelling bee (for the third year in a row) was Bailey Gerber, an eighth grader. The spelling bee lasted for 167 total rounds, which made it go into a second day. This was the longest spelling bee in NMS history! The three remaining spellers on the second day were Bailey Gerber, Tessa Horan (who took the runner-up spot, missing the word “belligerent”), and Monica Frauhiger (who took third place.) Bailey’s winning word was “aggregate.” Bailey will now advance to the Wells County Spelling Bee, which will take place on February 12th.
