Historical Society Photographing County sites

Rural Wells County residents be advised:

A survey of historical sites around Wells County is currently being conducted, including photographing many above ground resources.
Funded by Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archeology, the survey is being conducted by ARCH, Architecture & Community Heritage, of Fort Wayne.

Sheriff Bob Frantz said his department has received several calls from rural residents concerned about the suspicious activity.
Frantz said the Wells County surveyor, Michael Galbraith, drives a black Volvo and is easy to spot.
Unlike the recent influx of solicitors seen in Wells County, Galbraith is not selling anything and likely will just be passing through areas, driving slowly and taking photographs.
Frantz said because of the recent surge in illegal solicitation he expects some residents will remain concerned despite the warnings.
“I just wish they would have found a better time to do this in Wells County,” Frantz said.
